It had been a long day. Jessica thought about the phone call earlier and wondered if it was worth mentioning to the police to see if they could put a trace on it with a more advanced system. But then again, she thought, it could be nothing. She decided to call it a night, shut down her computer and grabbed her bag before heading out of the office. It was 11 pm and so she thought she had better grab something to eat on her way home.

She got into her car and was about to head towards her favourite place, Bruno’s, as they were open late into the night and made the best pasta she had ever tasted, when her mobile phone rang. It was her colleague, Keon, and she wondered what the scoop was as she answered it. Keon had also started with BRS as a young graduate and seemed as enthusiastic as she was to be there, which was why they made a wonderful team – whenever Jessica had a hunch about something, Keon was quick to pick up on it and they were then able to put the pieces together. And when it came to their personal lives, Jessica had a Chinese and English heritage and so did Keon; they were like two peas in a pod.

‘Hiya, what’s the latest?’ Jessica asked.

Laughing at the end of the other line, Keon replied, ‘How do you know that’s what I am ringing about? I could be calling you for something else.’

‘Hmmm, let me guess…a trip to Hawaii, with sandy beaches and seashells...’

‘Alright, alright, I hate it when you do that,’ he grumbled.

Chuckling, she retorted, ‘And I hate it when you can’t go straight to the point so spit it out.’

‘Okay, bossy lady,’ he paused and then carried on, ‘The police have found a body…’

Her heart raced then. ‘A body? Where? I am on my way. Text me the location.’ And she hung up before he could say another word.
